So You Want to Learn the Violin *ONLINE* | Step-by-Step Guide | Part 1
I wanted to make a video that covered everything you would need if you wanted to learn the violin online! And while I don't necessarily recommend learning online, I do understand there are sometimes circumstances where it's the only option. So, I made a complete step-by-step guide of how to learn violin online starting from literally zero. Like from where to get a violin!

How to Tune Your Violin | Everything You Need to Know
Переглядів 77114 днів тому
I tried to cover as much information as possible for tuning. There is actually so much to talk about! Whew. So important to remember: When you're tuning; always use slow, long, quiet bows so your tuner can pick up the sound correctly. When tuning with the pegs, it's always good to tune it a bit flat and finish with the fine tuner than to tune too high and risk breaking a string. Please comment ...

Okay, I chatted with my sisters to create this video. They're all also professional musicians. (violin, viola, and cello. Yes, we're a quartet too lol) And these are the three things we noticed have stayed true over our 30 year musical careers. 1. Play vs Practice. Some days you just don't feel like practicing! So don't! Just play. Play your favorite song. Make something up! It doesn't really m...

    I started to learn vibrato when I had been playing for 3 years and after almost a year, I have almost mastered it. So, in my opinion, it would take at least 4 years to master vibrato.

    great suggestions. my last instructor stressed relaxation. with the 3 octave scales he had he gradually increase my speed so that i didnt have to really think about each note, of course subconsciously i did, then while he increased the tempo he told me to count back from 100 as i played in my head. it became so natural for me. i loved warming up this way, i was taught to listen at a very relaxed pace yet be very mindful at the same time

    • @thomassicard3733
      @thomassicard3733 2 дні тому

      You should practice your 3 octave scales, while increasing speed (to prestississimo), while... counting backwards from 100 in your head, simulateneousy standing on your right foot - with your left foot held 1.5 feet above the floor, and while throat singing a 5-part Bach Fugue. YEAH!!!!

    I bought the wooden one for $75 that has octogonal shape and is thick like you said. I like how it lies in hand but now I would prefer a lighter one. This one weights 78 grams but I heard most violinist prefer 70 grams. It's hard to change it's direction due to inertia of it's weight. So It's harder to jump from one section to another section and do it in contrallable way. What would you say is the difference between $100 carbon fiber bow and $500 carbon fiber bow technically that it makes it worth the price?

    • @nickiemcnichols5397
      @nickiemcnichols5397 5 днів тому

      $75 for a wooden bow is pretty low. If and when I switch from my cheap carbon fiber bow, I expect to spend at least $3-400. I have to say, I have a fiddle I love, but I’m not real enamored of the carbon fiber bow that came with it.

    • @Corrietheviolinist
      @Corrietheviolinist 5 днів тому

      Everything you just said is the reason to get a more expensive bow! The better the bow you get, the greater control you will have. You’ll have sharper articulation and cleaner bow changes. You’ll still need to try a few to pick which weight/weight distribution you like, but you’ll notice an immediate difference. I think I tried literally over a hundred bows before I picked mine.
